Vinted Users Voice Displeasure Regarding Sizing Modifications
Shoppers are voicing their frustration due to a modification that led to items being listed as the wrong size.
This online marketplace has revised its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes without notifying every member regarding the update.
Online Platforms Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show a different size category than originally posted due to the recalibration.
Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.
They have suggested members to examine their items and update the measurements by hand when needed, which has left users frustrated.
Measurement Approach Modifications
Previously, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Member Experiences
A fashion influencer, who creates plus-size fashion videos, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
A different member, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as size 20–22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she explained.
Necessary Adjustments
Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item".
"This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she said.
Platform Context
The platform boasts over 100 million members, with 18 million British users.
It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: previously, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
